Dream Team News
After 9 weeks of the Premiership the coaches are starting to dominate the top 10. Hotdog is the only player in the top 5. Matty and Innes both drop out of the top 5 after a poor week for them. Harrison Toby and Nathan are still in the hunt for top spot but with the bar set so high by Andy everyone will have to up their game for the next few weeks.
FC Halifax Town vs Trafford
Some of SSCF's regulars got a chance to take penalties against Halifax keeper, Phil Senior at the recent match against Stafford. During the half-time break the boys held their nerve to step out in front of a 1400 strong crowd and try their luck againt the Halifax stopper. Every player got 2 attempts and most shots either flew in or were well saved. The lads were given a warm applause as they left the pitch and settled in to watch Halifax keep their 100% record with a 2-0 win.

BERLIN MARATHON SEPTEMBER 2009
Lee Ashforth, Senior Football Development Officer for Shay Stadium Community Football is running the Berlin Marathon on the 20th September. He is running the marathon for CLIC SARGENT which is the charity who deals with Caring for Children with Cancer.
All the work that SSCF does is with children of any age and that is why this charity has been selected.
Additionally, a coach who has worked and will work again for SSCF is currently undergoing treatment for a form of cancer, some people will be aware of this and we all wish him a speedy recovery.

DISABILITY FESTIVAL (MAY 17th 2009)
Lee, Nick and Damian pictured at the festival.
Shay Stadium Community Football recently assisted Sean Reagan at the Football Association in organising a disablility festival for children and young adults with a wide range of disability from all over the West Yorkshire region. The friendly tournament was held at St Jon Fisher School in Dewsbury and over 120 players attended. Sean Reagan said ' All the members of the Shay Stadium Community Football were a credit to themselves and the tournament could not have been organised and ran efficiently without their support. I sincerely hope this is only the start of work that I will be doing with them'.
NEW MEMBER OF STAFF
Damian Hopkins is the newest member of Shay Stadium Community Football. He starts his role as Community Coach on Tuesday 5th May and we are hoping he will become a valuable member of our team. Damien has a wealth of playing experience having played through the Manchester United youth setup and representing Wales at all levels up to Under 19's. Damien has been a professional footballer at Bradford City and is now playing at a high semi-professional level. A full profile will be available on our coaches page shortly.

COACHES DEVELOPMENT UPDATE (28/03/09)
Lee Ashforth and Nick Walker have now completed the next level of their coaching development. The FA have devised a new stucture of courses that aim to show coaches how to coach children aged 5-11. The age appropriate Module One course is a 4 day course that shows how to allow children to develop their sessions and also how coaches can develop the FA's four corner module. The 4 corner module covers, technical, physical, psychological, and social aspects of a childs development. These skills will allow us to develop children further in our school sessions and on our Holiday Courses.
The new Goalkeeping course starts on Wednesday 6th January at The Shay Stadium from 5-6pm. The course will run for 6 weeks with the final week being on Wednesday 10th February. To book a place on the course you need to e-mail Lee Ashforth, , the subject of the e-mail should be GK SESSION.
